In the latest software update, Microsoft unveiled a number of upgrades to its Outlook desktop app, Outlook for iOs/Android mobile apps, and the Outlook.com webmail service – and almost all of these new features are designed with Microsoft’s business customers in mind. The email support team at ATB is here to help you take a closer look at some of the most notable changes.

Outlook Calendar

  • Outlook for Windows and Outlook for iOS now have the ability to offer suggestions for meeting locations in calendar entries and automatically populates them using information drawn from Bing. While this probably isn’t necessary if you’re planning a meeting in your office, it can be tremendously helpful if you’re trying to schedule meetings with clients at locations outside of the office or even around the globe.
  • Improved RSVP and tracking capabilities for all meetings on your calendar planned using an Outlook invite. Even those that weren’t planned by you. This allows all meeting attendees to know exactly who they can expect to see at any given meeting.

Outlook Mail & Mobile

  • Enhanced support for BCC emails. We’ve all been there, you’ve been blind copied on an email and didn’t realize it and ended up replying to all and creating an uncomfortable email exchange. To help avoid this situation, the new version of Outlook for Windows will automatically alert you that you were BCC’d before you send your reply.
  • Draft synching has arrived. This does exactly what you hope it does. Now you can draft an email on your phone and pick up where you left off on your PC (or vice-versa). Anyone who travels with any regularity for business can attest that this is a game changer.

As Google continues to make a hard sell of its Gmail for Business product, you can expect that Microsoft will continue to enhance its platform to provide more of the bells-and-whistles available through Google, and that means better products for everyone!
