iPhone 7: It’s Good for Business

Thus far, the iPhone has been widely adopted by both personal and business users, and the announcement of the iPhone 7 seems to signal even greater benefits for professional customers moving forward.  Some notable changes included on the iPhone 7 are A business man typing on cell phone

  1. Elimination of the head phone jack. Apple’s new EarPods headphones will connect to your smartphone through the Lightening connector port.  And for those of you who prefer to go wireless, Apple announced the AirPods, which will connect to your iPhone using Bluetooth technology.  According to industry insiders who have gotten a sneak peek at the new technology, the AirPods offer clear, crisp sound and have great potential for business people, particularly road warriors who are constantly “on the go.”
  1. Improved front-facing camera. Frequently only recognized as a better way to take selfies, the new 7-megapixel front-facing camera provides significantly sharper, higher resolution images (as compared to the iPhone 6S) and also boasts auto-image stabilization. This means that Skype and Facetime conversations are sure to improve in quality and will help business professionals communicate better with coworkers and clients from remote locations.
  1. Dust and water resistance. This has been an area where Apple has been significantly lagging behind Samsung and Sony. And while the iPhone 7 will almost certainly fare better than before in dustier construction environments and should survive an accidental dunk in the water, it’s worth noting that Apple’s warranty terms exclude damage due to dust or water, so taking your phone for a swim is still probably ill advised.
  1. Pressure sensitive Home button and touchscreens. Unlike previous version of the iPhone, the iPhone 7’s Home “button” is integrated into the phone’s framework, meaning there are no more buttons to physically press or click. The new Home “button” and screen are pressure-sensitive and includes taptic feedback technology.  Though this might take a little time to get used to, it should improve the efficiency with which users can interact with programs and apps in the long run.
  1. More storage and faster processing. Though the iPhone 7’s screen is the exact same size as that of its predecessor, the iPhone 6S, the iPhone 7 features a quad-core processor that is up to 40% faster than last year’s A9 processor and also boasts superior efficiency to help conserve battery life while running multiple tasks or apps concurrently.  Additionally, the iPhone 7 offers more storage, with 32GB, 128GB and 256GB options.

In addition to the iPhone 7, Apple also announced some additional upgrades, including an improved Apple watch that is faster with superior chip technology, a new iOS, which will be released on September 13, 2016 and macOS Sierra is scheduled to update on September 20, 2016.  If you are considering a smartphone technology upgrade for your employees, we encourage you to contact the team at ATB to discuss how the new iPhone 7 can benefit your business and improve remote employee productivity.
